Don't steal precious ore, being a hooker is hard and other life lessons learned.
The Past Comes Back to Haunt You
Nolan may have thought he left his soldiering days behind him, but as Eddie Braddock's appearance demonstrates, you can't walk away from past deeds that easily. It seems Doc Yewll might be learning this lesson in the near future, too.
Work/Life Balance: Still Important
Kenya's rejection of Nolan surely stings the Lawkeeper, but it's obvious to viewers the problem stems from her inability to remain professional in her work as a...night porter. Kenya needs to learn the importance of separating one's career and social life - a good lesson for us all.
Given that Rafe grew up in a pre-Pale Wars world, you'd think he'd have seen or read The Lord of the Rings, and would know that you never, ever send someone alone to dispose of a shiny artifact in a molten pool. Always use the buddy system, lest dark things follow.
Don't Steal Gems
It's true in 2013, and it's certainly true in 2046. Gems = expensive = people miss them when they are gone. And if that person is a known crime lord in the Defiance game, as was the person Nolan stole the Libera Nova Gem from, it shouldn't be surprising that there's a bounty on his head.
Don't Take Dinner From Strangers
Datak was uncharacteristically trusting to take a bite of food from a character as shady as Pol Madis. Unsurprisingly, this turned out to be a very, very bad idea. Remember, kids: Cooks (with pain-inducing nanites) can kill.
